Organ Recital by Gordon Stewart
Halifax Minster, Church Street, Halifax HX1 1QY

The re-opening recital on the Halifax Harrison and Harrison organ in the Thursday at One series of Lunchtime Concerts features a programme sponsored by Leeds Organists' Association and a generous private donor. Music by Hollins (Concert Overture in C Minor), Arne, Bach, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Reginald Goss-Custard, Dan Miller and de la Tombelle.


This recital is the first of a series, taking place on the second Thursday of each month (except for January and February).

Gordon Stewart plays a recital on the Snetzler/Binns organ in the chapel, with a programme ranging from Sweelinck and Bach to Simon Lole and Andrew Carter.

A New Organ Tutor with Anne Marsden Thomas


We are very excited and incredibly fortunate that Anne Marsden Thomas MBE, FRSCM, ARAM, FRCO, BMus, Dip RAM, ARCM, LRAM has agreed to talk to us about her new publication and take part in a question and answer session afterwards. 

Anne is a world-wide acclaimed organist, organ teacher and author of 22 books for organ students and church organists. She is Director of Music at St Giles-without-Cripplegate in the City of London. In March 2017, she was the first woman to receive the RCO Medal and was awarded the MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours 2015 for 'services to organ music'.

Organ recitals from Leeds Town Hall


Online organ recitals every Monday broadcast from Leeds Town Hall, given by Margaret Phillips, Thomas Trotter, Anna Lapwood, Alan Horsey, Gordon Stewart and Leeds City Organist, Darius Battiwalla, are available on the Leeds Town Hall YouTube channel and the Leeds Concert Season page.
